EDITING SERVICES

Ruth has edited all the books and magazines Choeofpleirn Press has published in the last four years, so she is now providing Editing Services in order to refill Choeofpleirn Press' coffers, which have been drained because national granting institutions merely see us as a rural press not worth funding.

Ruth Heflin has also worked as a Writing Consultant for colleges and private businesses, helping them to improve writing assignments for college classes and improving how employees communicate within a company. She also taught college level English classes for 34 years.

You may pay for the services using the PayPal selections below, or you may mail checks for services made out to Ruth Heflin to:

For an additional fee of $50 to $100, depending on the manuscript lengths above, comparisons can be drawn between the manuscript being read and what is currently published and on the market.

Editing Fees (half must be paid in advance)

There are three different types of Editing available. Choose the one that best suits your needs, but which one is best will be suggested after a paid Initial Reading. Each form of editing comes with a written report.

Organizational Development (.03/word)

Examines the book as a whole, determining how well the ideas flow from one to the next, and if every element included works to strengthen the work as a whole.

Substance Editing (.035/word)

Evaluates the book on how well its organization works, how well the ideas are developed; how strong the writing style is, and how well the book has been edited already by pointing out spelling and grammar issues.

Proofreading (.05/word)

Highlights weaknesses, especially incorrect spelling and grammar, punctuation issues that could cause confusion, and poor word choices., especially those that potentially cause confusion for readers.

If a writer pays for an Initial Reading, the cost of a follow up form of editing (from the three choices) is discounted by 10%.
